DEFENCE TECHNOLOGY

  • Its important for a country to develop its own technology in the field of technological era specially in the fiel of defence
  • Indian defence technology DRDO is the chief research organization in the field of defence reseach

DRDO ( Defence research development organization )drdo

  • It was formed in 1958 from the amalgamation of the then already functioning followings-
  1. Technical development establishment of Indian army
  2. The directorate of technical development & production
  3. The defence science organization.
  • That time it was directly under the control of advisor scientist of defence minster
  • He was ex-officio secretary of DRDO
  • But in 1980 it became independent organization with specific goal
  • Earlier it was established as a small organization with 10 laborites now it has 51 laborite’s
  • Its headquarters is at Delhi.

 

Defence production and supply department-

  • It was established in 1984 with the merger of defence production department and defence supply department.
