DEFENCE TECHNOLOGY
- Its important for a country to develop its own technology in the field of technological era specially in the fiel of defence
- Indian defence technology DRDO is the chief research organization in the field of defence reseach
DRDO ( Defence research development organization ) –
- It was formed in 1958 from the amalgamation of the then already functioning followings-
- Technical development establishment of Indian army
- The directorate of technical development & production
- The defence science organization.
- That time it was directly under the control of advisor scientist of defence minster
- He was ex-officio secretary of DRDO
- But in 1980 it became independent organization with specific goal
- Earlier it was established as a small organization with 10 laborites now it has 51 laborite’s
- Its headquarters is at Delhi.
Defence production and supply department-
- It was established in 1984 with the merger of defence production department and defence supply department.
